DISC certification provides trainers with in-depth training on the theory and practice of DISC. This enables trainers to be more skilled and confident when leading DISC programs in a coaching, training, or consulting setting.

There are three options for DISC training certifications: in-house, classroom, and virtual. In-house and classroom programs entail two days of training - either at your workplace in the case of an in-house program, or at a public workshop in Minneapolis in the case of classroom DISC certification. A virtual program consists of a series of phone calls, virtual meetings, and webinars customized to fit your schedule.

Regardless of format, the goals and outcomes of any certification program are identical:

  • To develop an understanding of how the tools improve employee performance and productivity
  • To learn how DISC applies to the workplace, and to learn how to teach this to others
  • To learn the various DISC assessments, and which programs apply to different situations
  • To learn the Comparison Reports, Group Reports, and Facilitator Reports, which significantly enhance the DISC experience
  • To develop one's skills as a trainer and facilitator, using a variety of profiles and interactive exercises
  • To explore various applications of the program, including coaching, conflict resolution, leadership, teambuilding, management, sales, and service
  • To create a customized application plan for oneself and a performance enhancement strategy for one's organization
  • To experience a training workshop that participants can immediately turn around and deliver
  • To learn to correctly administer, score, and apply the profiles in their own workshops, coaching sessions, and consulting settings using supporting materials including their Facilitation System
  • To demonstrate understanding of the model by delivering a mini-presentation in small groups

We realize that it can be difficult to free one’s schedule for two solid days, particularly when it may also require travel. Virtual certifications are a popular option for trainers in this situation. It incorporates a variety of training materials with personalized telephone coaching completed over five conference calls; the total time commitment is approximately 15 hours.

With any DISC profile certification, participants learn the newest profiles and facilitator materials that Inscape Publishing has released. For instance, our online training platform contains more than 50 assessments and profiles. Following certification, trainers purchase and administer the appropriate self-assessment tool(s) for each of their participants.

Certification is not a requirement to conduct DISC training. It significantly enhances the trainer’s skills, capabilities, and knowledge of the program, but plenty of trainers use DISC quite successfully without ever attending certification.

DISC® is a model of human behavior that helps people understand “why they do what they do.” The dimensions of Dominance, influencing, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness make up the model and interact with other factors to describe human behavior.

Originally created by Dr. William Marston at Columbia University and researched and updated by Dr. John Geier and Inscape Publishing at the University of Minnesota, the DISC model and its various assessment tools have helped over 35 million people in 20+ languages over the last 40 years.

What Can I Do After Completing This DISC Certification?

Upon successful completion of the DISC Certification, DISC trainers will have the knowledge and background necessary to teach DISC to others. You will need to purchase the appropriate DISC self-assessment tool(s) for each of your participants. DISC Certification Outline

DISC Certification Pre-Work
You will receive an Online DISC Classic Profile 2.0 Access Code via email upon registration for the DISC Certification. You will respond online, print out your personalized report, and bring it with you to the certification.

Day 1: Learn to Speak DISC
The purpose of Day 1 is to gain a thorough understanding of the DISC model of human behavior.  You will also observe and participate in a DISC workshop that you will be able to deliver yourself.
